Day 1

Day 1

Day One: Thursday Morning, heading to Sioux Falls.

This year our youngest son Chris will tag along with us. This is probably the last time he’ll be able to go with us on vacation, since he’ll be off to veterinarian school next ye

We left Clever around 8:30 am. Headed off in the new truck, loaded up and ready for vacation!!
First time pulling the trailer with the 2018 Ford F-150. This is the first Ford I have owned! I read a lot of reviews and talked to a lot of people about the new V-6 twin turbo and the ten speed transmission. They said it was a pulling machine. I had my doubts….V-6, really!?!? Ford rates it to tow 13,000 lbs. Quite a lot more than our Dodge 1500 Hemi 5.7. So, we thought we would try it. I have to tell ya, we were NOT disappointed. This thing is a pullin’ machine!! On our way to Kansas City, I set the cruise on 75 and let the truck take over. Never did we get below 70 MPH, it just cruised up the hills. I know, the hills aren’t that tough on the way to Kansas City, but there were many times were the Dodge was down to 50 mph. With only a 4 speed transmission, there just ain’t enough gears! We made it to KC in about same time as we would in a car!! Quiet, comfortable, cooled and massaging front seats…this is gonna be a great ride!!

We made it to just west of Sioux Falls off of I-90. Dakota Sunset RV Park. It’s out in the middle of nowhere, but a nice little “mom and pop” type RV Park. Level sites, lots of trees and full hook ups. Not much around, except for CORN, that is! But, a nice spot to stop and spend the night on the way.
