Day 4

Day 4

Today we leave Palmer Gulch KOA and “get as far as we can”! More driving on I-90 with not much to look at. Rolling hills, very few trees and the occasional Pronghorn. We wanted to make it to Billings, MT at least. That would give us an easy time on Day 5. As were driving, Deb is trying to find us a campground for the night. Everything is booked…NO LUCK!
So, Deb finds a boon-docking site north of Billings. It’s on the way, can’t make reservations, it’s BLM Land and first come-first serve.
We turn off the highway and travel for 8 MILES down a dirt road. No rain here and it is dusty. You can’t tell the color of the trailer any more.
We drive thru flat fields of wheat and sunflowers, there are no trees…completely flat. She keeps insisting that once we get there, the terrain changes. Finally, we get to the place and low and behold she’s right. In the middle of this flat country, there is a small patch with trees, cliffs, rocks, not expected!
We were able to park right next to a cliff overlooking a valley. There is NO NOISE what-so-ever. You cannot hear a car in the distance…NOTHING! This is Solitude!!
The amazing part, I’m sitting here updating this blog and have good cell service!! Not idea, but its working!!
Temperature when we got here was in the 80’s, but with 35% humidity and a slight breeze, that is NOT bad.
