Today was our short journey to Monument Valley. This was on Chris’s bucket list. Lots of iconic features: lots of John Ford movies filmed here, Forest Gump’s famous run ends here and several John Wayne movies.
Movies including: Stagecoach (1939), My Darling Clementine (1946), She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), One of the best movies ever…The Searchers (1956), How the West Was Won (1962), Easy Rider (1968), The Eiger Sanction (1975), National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983), Back to the Future Part III (1990), Forrest Gump (1994), The Lone Ranger (2013)
Drive was somewhat interesting, lots of ROCKS! Drove by Lake Powell and over the Glen Canyon Dam. Best part of the trip was our stop at a little fast food place called Yardley’s Steak Burgers. The double steak burgers are AWESOME!
Got to the Goulding’s Resort Rv & Campground late afternoon. All this area is in the Navajo Indian Reservation. So, masks are required EVERYWHERE! Laundry closed at 5, couldn’t do laundry…that’ll have to wait.
I know I will pay for this, but the place is just trashy. Trash along the road, trailers with tires on the roofs everywhere, every trailer has at least 4-5 broke down cars in the front yard. You’ll see in tomorrows pictures, a beautiful landmark will have a “dump” at the base of it. I know, we can discuss/argue about this, but it doesn’t take money to pick the trash up.
