Today we head to our new campsite, on the east side of Bryce Canyon. Had to take a long way around, the shortest way across 14 highway was quite a climb, so we headed up north and then back down south. Trip was non-eventful, just took a few hours.
Were staying at Kings Creek Campground, on Tropic Reservoir. It’s quite a ways down a dirt road, and with no rain and less than 15% humidity, there is DUST! DUST everywhere!! It gets in every nook and cranny, crevasse and crack!
The lake looked like it was way down, not very deep at all.
The East Fork of the Sevier River was still flowing good. This is a very small stream, sometimes it’s only 3 feet wide. But has native trout, some very large native trout that are very difficult to catch! It’s more like “hunting trout”. You have to sneak up on them, can’t be noisy…usually, one or two casts in each hole, and your done. If you happen to spook the fish by being seen or casting a shadow on the water…your done with that area. Your not gonna catch anything there for hours.
I had hoped to catch a “tiger trout”…no such luck! Tiger Trout won this time!
We borrowed one of the neighbors kayaks, so Chris got to cruise around the lake while I fished…he stayed upright! The campground was pretty secluded and there wasn’t that many people there when we arrived…4-5 other sites filled, that’s about it. Pretty quiet!!
